I grew up in a log cabin out in the Indiana country. I spent my days deep in our woods with books and sketch pads by the creek. My nights were spent looking at the clear skies mapping out the stars, with again more books. My dad and I would go mushroom hunting and bird watching in the spring time. We would garden in the summer and can for the winter. There was nothing like watching a thunderstorm roll in while sitting on our front porch. Nature has always been a way for me to feel a deep peace in my soul.
I have a desire to help and encourage others along their journey, especially children. During college I worked with children while pursuing my bachelors in Psychology and masters in Occupational Therapy. While studying Occupational Therapy, I learned what my heart already knew. Kids need a place in the woods, we all do. The impact of nature not only on our souls but on our health, and the physical and emotional development of children is profound.
In 2017, after pursuing alternative education for our daughter and searching for a setting that nurtured her and our hearts for the nature connection, we discovered White Pine. We have been blessed with the community and friendships we have formed over the years.
I am thrilled to be a Tree Frog instructor this year! I am excited to journey with the 5 and 6 year olds and help foster their love and awe for nature.
