Rebekah Lorewood

Rebekah Lorewood

Woolly Bears Lead Instructor

Pronouns: She/her

As a kid, Rebekah grew up creek stomping, swimming and playing in the woods near her family’s big plot of land out in the countryside of Attica, Indiana. She loved putting on plays and pretending to dress and live like a prairie settler. Her dad, raised on a farm in Missouri he now owns and has been in their family over a century, was Rebekah’s model for a life lived outdoors, as he has been an avid hunter and lover of the outdoors as long as she can remember.

Rebekah went on to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English and minor in religious studies. Her thesis work was based in local theatre here in Indianapolis, including work both on and off stage. She’s taught yoga and meditation in the city for over a decade and holds a 200 hour yoga certification, along with a 100 hour prenatal yoga certification from Cityoga. She is a certified Indiana Master Naturalist.

Rebekah was drawn to White Pine because of the community, skill building and all the folks around with an adoration for Mother Earth. She loves getting to be outside and experiencing the innocence and unbridled spirits of children; she believes they are as much our teachers in this life as we are theirs. Some of her favorite memories at White Pine have been seeing her son engaged in community, loving the Earth and building skills.

Some of Rebekah’s specialties are storytelling and teaching movement, though she also loves cooking, plant medicine, making with natural materials, singing, moving her body, and fire making.

When she’s not at White Pine, Rebekah loves spending time with her family, cooking and baking, being outside, reading, writing, playing, singing and learning new ways to create and make. She’s looking forward to learning how to process and utilize an entire animal, make baskets and continuing to build new skills and connect with others and the Earth.
